Empowering You to Make a Difference

Leadership Pikes Peak is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1976 under the name Citizens’ Goals for the Colorado Springs Community. We’ve been one of the premier community leadership development organizations for 40 years. Our mission is to build a thriving community through leadership and service: Engage. Enrich. Empower. Connect.

Leadership Pikes Peak’s objective is civic leadership for the Pikes Peak region.

We provide community leadership programs for experienced professionalsyoung professionalswomen, and teens. The programs range from four to ten months and are geared toward providing skills, knowledge, and connections so that their participants can serve in the community effectively. These programs have more than 2,400 graduates who, as community trustees, work to make the Pikes Peak region a wonderful place to live, work, and play.

Our Focus

The Self:

One of the first steps to leadership development is to understand ourselves- who we are, what we can do, and how we are perceived by others.  For leadership to be actualized, we must understand our position in the Pikes Peak community by exploring our individual strengths, personality types, abilities, passions, and potential for personal growth.

The Community:

A critical component of leadership development is learning how to apply our abilities to our own personal communities.  A personal community is an intimate network of people with whom we align ourselves, and the places, issues, and organizations we rally around in our city.

The City:

Developing community trustees requires us to know where and how we can make a difference in the greater Pikes Peak community.  LPP introduces participants to community leaders and informs them of local challenges.  Program graduates will increase their confidence, skills, and abilities to strengthen the city, thus becoming community trustees.

We educate current and aspiring leaders about the community, its needs, and its resources; we connect those leaders with each other. We engage and connect through our Experience the Springs educational tour, each program, alumni association, and partner programs. Most of all, our alumni become active members of our community - a Community Trustee. Our alumni serve on boards, committees, and give back through volunteer opportunities. We also strategically align ourselves with other organizations to improve the civic health of the Pikes Peak region.
